Wontong Jinyoung Korean Medical Clinic Profile Overview

Wontong Jinyoung Korean Medicine Clinic, located in Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, South Korea

specializes in treating fibromyalgia and depression through traditional Korean medicine, in addition to musculoskeletal disorders.

Our clinic primarily focuses on pain management, providing treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, bee venom therapy, and physical therapy.

However, the main treatment for fibromyalgia and depression is herbal medicine prescriptions.

On the second floor, we have an 8-bed inpatient facility dedicated to treating domestic patients with fibromyalgia and depression.

Dr. Ki-Hyun Choi, with 30 years of clinical experience, continues to dedicate himself to patient care.

We specialize in treating fibromyalgia and depression with Korean medicine.

The primary treatment method is herbal prescriptions, and we offer personalized consultations tailored to each patient.

For international patients, we provide interpretation support in English to ensure comfort and understanding.

Patients can arrange their own flights to Korea, while visa, accommodation, and interpretation services must be coordinated with our clinic.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that Western medicine has difficulty treating effectively, often leading to limitations in daily activities.

Therefore, rather than approaching it as medical tourism, our clinic's treatment should be seen as the primary objective.

We are committed to providing the best possible treatment, and patients must discuss all considerations with us before making a decision.

Treatment Approach

Our treatment is primarily based on herbal medicine prescriptions.

For patients currently taking opioid painkillers (such as fentanyl patches or oxycodone), antidepressants (such as duloxetine or pregabalin),

or anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as tramadol or Ultracet), we implement a tapering treatment plan.

By combining herbal medicine with existing medications, we gradually taper off these drugs within approximately two months.

During the tapering process, patients may experience antidepressant withdrawal syndrome, which can be effectively managed with our herbal prescriptions.

The entire treatment process takes about 2-3 months, after which patients continue herbal medicine treatment for an average of one year.

For patients with milder fibromyalgia who take antidepressants or painkillers only occasionally or do not take any medication at all,

the treatment duration may be shorter. However, most patients will need to take herbal medicine for approximately one year on average.

Expected Outcome

Our treatment effectively relieves chronic pain that Western medicine has failed to resolve.

After completing the treatment, patients will no longer need to take any medications, enabling them to return to normal daily life and significantly improve their quality of life.
